Moov Community Guidelines
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Moov is about finding people you'd actually want to live with. That only works if everyone is honest, respectful and safe. These guidelines apply to everything on Moov: profiles, listings, messages, and our community groups.
If someone breaks them, report them. Every report is read by a person.
Be real
- Use your own photos and your real first name and age.
- Only list rooms that exist, are available, and that you have the right to let.
- Show the actual room. If a photo is of a different room, say so.
- Be upfront about the rent, bills, deposit, and who lives there.
- One person, one account.
Be respectful
- Treat people the way you'd want a future flatmate to treat you.
- A "no" or no reply is an answer. Don't keep messaging someone who hasn't replied or has said no.
- No harassment, threats, bullying, or insults.
- No hate. We don't allow content that attacks or demeans people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age.
- No sexual messages, sexual content, or nudity. Moov is for finding a home, not for dating.
Be fair
You can say what you're looking for in a flatmate. You can't use Moov to discriminate unlawfully. Our Flatmate Preferences policy explains exactly what's allowed. The short version:
- Preferences are for choosing who you'll live with.
- Never exclude people because of their race, nationality, religion, disability, or sexual orientation.
- Write preferences positively ("Female flatmate preferred, as the house is all women"), not as exclusions ("No men").
Be safe
- Never pay anything before you've viewed the room in person and seen the agreement. No holding fees, no deposits by bank transfer to a stranger, no "I'm abroad, I'll post you the keys".
- Keep chatting on Moov until you're comfortable. Scammers often try to move you to another app quickly.
- View with a friend, or tell someone where you're going.
- Don't share bank details, passwords or ID documents in chat.
Things that aren't allowed on Moov
- Fake profiles, fake listings, or catfishing
- Scams, phishing, or asking for money up front
- Offering a room, or cheaper rent, in exchange for sex. This is a crime, and we report it to the police
- Letting agents or businesses advertising without our permission
- Spam, adverts, or promoting other services
- Anything illegal, including drugs, weapons or stolen goods
- Content involving anyone under 18
- Sharing someone else's personal details or photos without permission
- Violent, graphic or threatening content
- Encouraging self-harm
- Trying to get around a block or ban
What happens if you break the rules
Depending on what happened, we may:
- remove the content
- warn you
- limit or suspend your account
- ban you permanently
- report it to the police, where someone may be at risk or the law requires it
Scams, threats, sexual content involving anyone under 18, and serious harassment lead to a permanent ban.
If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal. See our Reporting and Complaints procedure.
Report it
Tap Report on any profile, listing or chat. You can also block someone so they can't see you or message you again. Reports are confidential: we don't tell the other person who reported them.
If you're in immediate danger, call 999 first.
