Moov Terms of Use
Last updated: 5 October 2026
1. About us and these terms
Moov is an app that helps people in the UK find a room, a flatmate, or someone to fill their spare room. You swipe, you match, and you talk.
Moov is run by Moovhome Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17467720). Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. When these terms say "Moov", "we", "us" or "our", they mean Moovhome Ltd.
These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the Moov app, our website at moovhome.co.uk, and anything else we run under the Moov name (together, "Moov"). By creating an account or using Moov, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Moov.
These terms work alongside:
- our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data
- our Community Guidelines, which set out how everyone on Moov is expected to behave
- our Flatmate Preferences policy, which explains what preferences you can and can't set
- our Reporting and Complaints procedure, which explains how to report something and how we handle it
If you have a question about any of it, email us at support@moovhome.co.uk.
2. What Moov is, and what it isn't
Moov is a platform. We let people who have a room ("hosts") and people who are looking for one ("renters") find each other, match and message.
We are not a letting agent, a property manager or a landlord. We don't:
- own, manage or inspect any room or property shown on Moov
- take part in any tenancy, licence or lodger agreement
- arrange viewings, negotiate, or collect rent, deposits or fees
- check that a listing is accurate, legal or safe to live in
Any agreement to rent a room is made directly between the people involved. You are responsible for your own decisions, including checking the room, the person and the paperwork before you commit or hand over money.
3. Who can use Moov
To use Moov you must:
- be 18 or over
- be able to enter into a legal agreement
- not have been removed from Moov before, unless we have said you can come back
- use Moov only for yourself, or for a room you have the right to let
If you're a host, you confirm that you have the right to let the room you list, for example as the owner, as a resident landlord, or as a tenant whose landlord allows subletting or lodgers.
We may ask you to confirm your age or identity, and we may limit what you can do until you have.
4. Your account
You can sign up with Apple, Google or an email address. Please:
- give us accurate information and keep it up to date
- keep your login details to yourself
- have only one account
- tell us straight away at support@moovhome.co.uk if you think someone else has used your account
You are responsible for what happens on your account.
5. Your profile, listings and messages
Everything you add to Moov, including photos, your profile, listings and messages, is "your content". You are responsible for it.
When you post content you confirm that:
- it is true, current and not misleading, including the rent, bills, what is included, and who lives there
- the photos are of the actual room or property, or clearly labelled if not
- you have the right to share it, including permission from anyone else who appears in a photo or is described in your listing (for example your current flatmates)
- it follows our Community Guidelines and the law
Your rights in your content. You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, resize and share it within Moov so the service works (for example, showing your listing to renters). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for the reasons in our Privacy Policy.
We will never use your photos or profile in our marketing without asking you first.
6. Preferences and fair treatment
Moov lets you say what kind of home or flatmate you are looking for. That is part of how matching works. Some of those preferences, such as gender and age, touch on characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010.
By using Moov you agree to:
- use preferences only in the ways the law allows, as explained in our Flatmate Preferences policy
- never discriminate on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, or pregnancy and maternity
- never refuse someone because they receive benefits or have children, where the law says you can't
You are responsible for making sure your own preferences and decisions are lawful. We may edit or remove a listing, a preference or an account that we believe breaks this section.
7. Things you must not do
You must not use Moov to:
- break the law, or help anyone else to
- harass, threaten, bully, abuse or intimidate anyone
- post hate speech, sexual content, violent content, or anything involving children
- post fake listings, fake profiles, or rooms that don't exist or aren't available
- scam anyone, including asking for money, deposits or "holding fees" before a viewing, or sending people off Moov to pay
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent who you are, your age, or your connection to a property
- advertise as a business, agent or commercial landlord without our written permission
- send spam, bulk messages, adverts or unrelated offers
- collect other users' data, scrape Moov, or use bots or automated tools
- try to get around a block, a suspension or a ban
- interfere with Moov's security or how it works
Moov has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We act on reports quickly (see section 9).
8. Safety
We work hard to keep Moov safe, but we can't vet everyone. Please:
- meet in a public place first, or view with a friend
- never pay money before you have seen the room in person and seen the agreement
- trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, stop and report it
We don't currently check anyone's identity documents, so treat every profile as unverified and take the steps above.
9. Reporting, blocking and how we moderate
You can report or block any user from their profile or your chat. Here is how we protect people on Moov:
- Reports. Every report is reviewed by a person. We aim to review reports within 5 working days. Anything involving a risk to someone's safety or suspected illegal content goes to the front of the queue and is dealt with as quickly as we can.
- What we can do. Depending on what we find, we may remove content, limit an account, suspend it, or ban it permanently. Where we believe someone is at risk, or where the law requires it, we may pass information to the police or other authorities.
- Illegal content. We remove illegal content we become aware of as quickly as we can.
- Tools we use. Automatic checks hold some new listings for review before they go live. A person makes every moderation decision.
Our Reporting and Complaints procedure explains the full process, including how to complain about a decision we have made, or about your content being taken down.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Profile > Delete account. This deletes your profile, listings, messages and matches. Our Privacy Policy explains the small amount of data we keep and why.
We may suspend or close your account, or remove content, if we reasonably believe you have broken these terms, put other people at risk, or broken the law. Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and how to appeal.
11. Price
Moov is currently free to use. If we ever introduce paid features, we will tell you the price clearly before you pay, and extra terms will apply to them. We will never charge renters a fee to rent a room.
12. Changes to Moov and these terms
Moov is new and will keep changing. We may add, change or remove features.
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Moov after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
13. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
Beyond that:
- We provide Moov "as is". We try to keep it working and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.
- We are not responsible for what users post, say or do, on or off Moov, or for any room, tenancy or arrangement between users.
- We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses.
- If we are found liable to you, our total liability is limited to £100 or, if more, the total you have paid us in the 12 months before your claim.
14. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims in your local courts.
- If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights under these terms to another organisation, for example if Moovhome Ltd is sold. Your rights won't be reduced.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms.
Apple. If you downloaded Moov from the App Store, these terms are between you and Moovhome Ltd, not Apple. Apple has no responsibility for Moov or its content, isn't responsible for support or claims about the app, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms, so it can enforce them against you.
